How it is made

A curved wall and a round bottom.

A paper bowl starts as two flat pieces: a side wall cut as a curve, which wraps into a cone and closes along one seam, and a round bottom set in at the base. The top edge is rolled into a rim.

  • The wall is cut as an arc, so the bowl tapers and nests in a stack.
  • The bottom sits just above the table on a turned skirt.
  • The rolled rim stiffens the top and gives the lid something to close on.
  • Your print goes on the side wall while it is still flat.
What goes in it

For what gets eaten from the bowl.

Most bowls are eaten from, not tipped onto a plate. Pick the size by the portion.

The board

What the bowl is made of.

Paperboard with a barrier on the inside, and no PE film.

Kraft paperboard

A stiff board wall that holds its shape when the bowl is full.

PE-free barrier

The inside is lined without PE film.

Leak-resistant

Made to hold dressings, sauces and broth on the way to the table.

Lids to match

Each bowl size has a lid made for its rim.

Nests in a stack

Tapered walls, so a sleeve of bowls takes little room.

Made to size

From 8–32 oz (237–946 ml).

Printing

Plain, one colour, or up to four.

Printed on the side wall while it is still flat, so the artwork wraps evenly round the bowl.

Unprinted

Plain kraft. Sticker the lid, or leave it as it is.

YOUR LOGO

One or two colours

Your logo on the side wall. The most common choice.

FULL ART

Up to four colours

Flexo print on the kraft wall for fuller artwork. Colour on unbleached kraft varies a little from run to run.

FAQ

Questions we get asked

Something not covered here? Ask in the form below and we answer within one working day.

Do the bowls come with lids?

Each bowl size has a lid made for its rim. Lids are quoted with the bowl.

Can I serve soup in them?

The bowls are lined with a PE-free barrier and made to be leak-resistant. Tell us what you serve, how hot, and how long it travels, and check it on the sample before you order.

Which size do I need?

Weigh or measure the portion you serve today and add room for the toppings. We suggest a size from that, and the sample shows you how it looks filled.

Can I get a sample before I order?

Yes. A sample takes five working days. Sampling fees are credited against your first production order of the same product.

How long does production take?

12 to 15 working days after you approve the proof, then 1 to 5 business days on the road. The minimum is 2,000 per size.

What if an order arrives damaged?

Count pallets and note any damage on the delivery receipt before you sign. Send photos through the enquiry form within 48 hours and we reship or refund the damaged goods.

Do you ship outside the US?

Yes, on request. Duties, import taxes and brokerage are paid by the receiver.
